Q. What is a ‘Realistic Digital Painting’ and why does it cost so much more?

A. A realistic digital painting is where I take a photo of you to reference and paint you in a fantasy world. Would you like to see yourself as your RPG character? As an elf from Lord of the Rings? Or perhaps as a Bjoran or Klingon in the Star Trek universe? Or even as a superhero of your own creation? The possibilities are endless. Digital paintings have no lines and are much more detailed, which is what makes them more expensive than the other services I offer. The cheaper colored line art is great for shoppers on a budget, looking for a drawing of an original character or avatar.

Q. I have an original character, but would you to design a new outfit for him/her?

A. I’d love to design an outfit, however if you’re ordering a realistic digital painting it will cost more.

Q. Why are your prices so high?

A. This is my main source of income, I treat this as a job, and feel I should be paid accordingly. If I spend six to eight hours painting a realistic digital head portrait, I would like to at least make the same as if I was flipping burgers during that time. Art is a luxury item, it takes time and effort to do well.

Q. What tools do you use?

A. I use Corel Painter X, my Wacom Intuos tablet, my creativity, and your inspiration.

Q. I don’t feel I should have to pay so much, will you make me a deal to get my business?

A. Not likely, but you are free to try to offer me something else. If I reject any proposition, that’s the end of it. Harassment will not be tolerated!

Q. Can I commission you to draw fanart? (Fan art is art of a show, series, movie, or book)

A. I really would prefer not to. I believe it’s unethical to make money off of other artists copyrighted material.
